Movement and Poi

Movement is a big part of my life.

I have been on dance floors for many different occasions, outdoors and indoors, from music festivals to raves, ecstatic and contact dance to authentic movement workshops and cacao ceremonies. Dancing is a gateway to flow state, ecstasy, and peak experiences that define our lives and fill us with long lasting contentment

Movement intersects with my professional practice of bodywork therapy where I describe my style as "dancing" with the body, to gentle flowing music, that allows the client to feel more deeply attuned to both touch and sound, and feel connected to the giver but also feel seen and safe enough to dive deeper into their internal journey

My Poi Journey

Around 2017 I got into the flow arts, and started spinning poi. Flow arts are typically viewed in circus shows or music festivals. It's been a real journey of growth in a movement-based art that has boosted his confidence, been a source of fun exercise, and connected him in to the vibrant flow arts community

Four years later I earned my first performance at a fundraising event, and helped teach kids at a four-day circus camp on Cortes Island. I hope to start providing private lessons. I break my poi out any opportunity I get, as a way to inspire and connect with people

I am also proud and a bit snobbish about my eclectic music collection which I've put lots of time in to curate and refine, creating playlists for many different occasions. I hope to learn to DJ and/or produce music in the future
