Trauma & Healing

"In order for there to be a revolution on the societal level there has to be a spiritual revolution at the individual level."

I believe one of the noblest things we can do in our lifetime is to heal ourselves. Healing ourselves has a ripple effect on our loved ones, on future generations, and even past ones, ending the destructive legacy of intergenerational trauma.

There is a mosaic of ways to heal, not one of them is a silver bullet. I am privileged to work with some of these therapies such as massage, breathwork and craniosacral therapy. I have ambitions to work in coaching and plant medicine and have guided people in informal settings.

How Healing Works

The basic dimensions of the universe are time and space.

The basic ingredients to healing are time and space. Given enough time and space, anyone can heal from the wounding given them from early childhood or previous lives. However, most people go their whole lives without experiencing any healing. The other ingredients come from within - intention and presence.

When people spend their lives in comfort and dissociated, they don't heal. Given all the time and space in the world, they don't get to the root, and root out their deepest shadows.

The Power of Presence

Presence is the ultimate tool for healing. It is preached by almost all self-care practices and healing modalities. Why is this?

Being present, fully in the moment, allows us to feel everything. It allows us to feel the joy from nature and good people. It also allows us to feel the painful and hurt parts of ourselves that we tend to dissociate from with substances such as alcohol, and activities such as gambling and sex. Those painful and hurt parts originate from childhood experiences and past lives.

For those with traumatizing pasts, it is difficult to be present, because this pain arises to the surface of their consciousness, and manifests as negative thoughts, feelings and physical discomfort.

However, this pain can only be healed by bringing it to the surface of consciousness first. This is why healing is a difficult, often long process, and everyone is responsibility for their own healing. Healing can be accomplished below consciousness, but this type of healing requires decades to result in major shifts.

By first becoming present, we feel everything, including the negative thoughts and feelings that originate from our past. In the right setting which creates the right intention - in nature, in a healing ceremony or in therapy - we can face our pain and transmute it.

Trauma Informed Lens

I see the world through a trauma informed lens.

I see human behaviour, reactions and triggers as a result of past traumas not only accumulated during one's lifetime but across multiple generations. I seek to work with individuals, informed by my own healing journey, to uncover and integrate their traumas so that they can heal themselves as well as their relationships to people and nature, creating a rippling effect outward to the community and our environment.

I have followed my intuition for many years, chasing heart-opening adventures and ecstatic experiences that brought me healing. I have largely integrated my childhood traumas through these experiences, as well as breathwork and psychedelics. If it was possible to reduce the human experience, such as to measure how much someone has healed, I would say I worked my way towards the positive end of the spectrum, and have accumulated a deep well of love and resilience. It is through doing this work, and cultivating a desire and will to help others with theirs, that I ultimately found myself on the healing path.

Since quitting my engineering job in 2014, I:

> graduated from the Vancouver School of Healing Arts for Swedish massage

> received Zendo Project training and experienced providing harm reduction at music festivals such as Burning Man and Shambhala Music Festival

> I have a certificate in Hakomi, which teaches how to be a loving presence to unlock the client's inner healing power

> trained in the Enlightened Bodyworker online program put on by Healing Hands Training

> am in training to become a Breathwave facilitator

I also have a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) which teaches not only how to grow food, but to live in community with others. I have put this into practice, spending time at several intentional communities in Canada as well as abroad

Another path I consider is becoming a psychedelic therapist. My own journey with psychedelics has given me spiritual intelligence from which to attune and connect to others on a spiritual level. Ultimately I hope to continue weaving my self development through breathwork, psychedelics and community and let spirit intelligence guide me to how I can best bring my gifts to the world.
